A brick and mortar college will have agreements and relationships with local medical centers and hospitals. You will have an easier time getting started, and you might have a better chance of getting a job at the clinic where you work, once you graduate. Hospitals actively engage with schools so they can hire new employees who have already learned the ropes at the hospital. It works out well for everyone involved.
Benefits of an Online School
Not everyone lives close enough to a college campus to be able to easily enroll and attend classes. There are some benefits to completing your class work through an online program. You get to plan your own schedule, work around the rest of your life, and you don’t have to commute to class. Some people would have to move completely to attend an on the ground campus, which can get very expensive very quickly. For some, the only option is to study online, and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
Taking the Exam
To become an x ray tech, you also have to take the national certification exam. As long as the study program you attend is accredited, you will qualify to take the exam once you complete the program.
